What is the TASC Test?
The TASC Test Assessing Secondary Completion™ is a state-of-the-art, affordable national high school equivalency assessment that assesses five subject areas including Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. It measures examinees’ levels of achievement relative to that of graduating high school seniors, and readiness for college and the workforce, as outlined by the Common Core State Standards.
At Chrome Institute we believe that everybody deserves a second chance. Graduates prove their academic skills and knowledge in the basic subject areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

Setting the TASC Test CutScores
TASC Test Assessing Secondary Completion™ cutscores were set for each of the five TASC test subject area tests (Language-Arts Reading, Language-Arts Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science). To pass the TASC test at the overall level an examinee must pass each subject area test. That is, there is no additional requirement to pass TASC test at the overall level—examinees must simply achieve at least the minimum passing requirements for each subject area test.
Passing cut scores for each TASC test subject area were set using norm-referenced information from a nationally representative sample of high school seniors, and then validated using a variety of methods including the correspondence of cut scores to the 2002 GED® test series cut scores and data on the percentage of adult examinees expected to pass the TASC test (estimated from field test data).
What are the Pass Scores for the TASC Test?
The minimum passing score is 500 for Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The TASC Writing subtest has one additional requirement—the examinee must score at least 500 and achieve at least a two out of the eight possible points on the Writing essay.
